Command vote a thing of the past
Administration candidates should face the voters and not to rely on local government officials to deliver the votes.
The strategy adopted by the administration to rely on command vote to ensure victory for its candidates is laughable. The people will vote for candidates according to qualifications and principles.
The administration believes local government officials need only tell the electorate who to vote for, but that election strategy is a thing of the past. People now have a mind of their own.
In contrast, we in the Genuine Opposition go directly to the people and discuss the issues. And we do that because we have nothing to be afraid of, unlike Team Unity candidates.
The administration should go to the grassroots. That way, they would not be so ignorant of the sentiments of the people.
Bumaba sila sa masa para makita nila kung ano ang nangyayari sa ibaba. Hindi yong ipapatawag lang nila ang mga mayor at gobernador. Ito ay nanngangahulugan ng kawalang respeto sa mga mamamayan.
I doubted too the sincerity of the Unity candidates for flip-flopping and giving conditions before engaging in a public debate challenged by the GO.
The debate should be conducted freely so that issues would be answered and for the public’s awareness and understanding of the stand of both parties.
Kapag ikaw ang sasabak sa ring, dapat handa kang sagutin ang kahit anong uri ng suntok.

100% yang correct Chiz. What the administration meant was that: they neeed the local for the manipulations of ballots on May 14. Nagawa na nila ng 2004 at nagtagumpay sila- so ano pa ba ang bago? Papano nga ba mapigilan ang massive cheatings ng administration?

first of all you have my vote sir! I hate this administration! period! we certainly need a change, and we can start this coming election. Lahat ng Kalokohan nandito na ata. and if there’s an issue, they’ll cover it up with another one to divert the people’s attention! hangang sa makalimutan na! and sigurado pag nag ka dayaan nnmn this election, baka mag kagulo na like sabi ni Erap. (and i know there’ll be, di kaya ni GMA na mag dominate ang opposition sa senate and sa congress) Go CHIZ! GO GO GO!

The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism has an insightful analysis on how these local systems have actually perpetuated those in power, at least for local government, and how jueteng plays a major part in this as an information dissemination and gathering network on vote loyalty.
I agree with you that this is disrespectful of the local voter, but vote loyalty at the grassroots level is such a complicated thing, with Juan de la Cruz going to the local barangay captain or worse, mayor for every social service that government should but cannot provide. I would argue that the command vote is not necessarily a thing of the past, but it’s not as strong as the administration believes it is.
Just look at President Estrada’s victory in 2001. Much as I disagreed with the electorate then, I believe that that was a free expression of the will of the electorate command vote presence notwithstanding.
However, with disgraced Commissioner Garcillano having the chutzpah to run for Congress in Bukidnon, I fear that even if our electorate somehow finds the maturity to vote on the issues (I pray everyday that you are right on this one), our elections this time may once again be like the sails on tall ships - manually rigged.
If that were the case, I surmise that would explain their arrogance in not even engaging in actual political debate - they don’t need to.

Command Vote is just a thing of the past, it is.
There’s a different thing that we take for granted…
It is NOT to guard only the vote of Juan dela Cruz but to guard the votes of the entire FILIPINOS, that’s the thing.
Learn this from the thing of the past…
from the late and respected FPJ’s candidacy.
Now worry if this going to be the same thing for the future, then its till the same thing with the past.
